History
The Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin didn’t actually start as an university, it was originally founded in 1709 by the King of Prussia as an hospital, due to the expected outbreak of plagues in the region, particularly the bubonic plague that had already deeply affected the region of East Prussia.
