History
The University of Manchester was first established in the year 2004, however this recent date hides a long history and tradition that go all the way back to the year 1824, through the Mechanics’ Institute, the first and foremost institution of Manchester during the early 19th century, founded as a way to ensure residents could learn the principles of science.
From there on many institutions, and many rebrandings of the former Mechanic’s Institute would play a key role in the future birth of the University of Manchester, Owens College, the Victoria University of Manchester, and University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, where all pivotal steps in and institutions in the future merger that would finally result in the birth of the University of Manchester in the year 2004.

Through it’s 3 main faculties the University of Manchester currently offers well over 60 unique courses aimed at undergraduate students, it’s important to note however that variations on the same courses are listed separately, so a degree of repetition can be found if looked closely; nonetheless the institution keeps a healthy selection.

Admission requirements
In general English language proficiency, with a IELTS score of 7.0 or equivalent is expected of all students, as well as graduation from year 12 or equivalent, different faculties do ask for different requirements however, such as previous experience, portfolios or written assignments, and as such it’s important to check in detail each course details ahead of time.
