University of Queensland

History

The history of the creation of the University of Queensland start at 1874, with many proposals asking for a university in the region, however this didn’t go too smoothly, and until 1983 there was only one result of these proposals, the Queensland University Extension Movement, with a focus on public lectures. Nonetheless it’s work proved vital on the long run, and the interest it generated resulted in a draft bill for a new university. As the result of this process the University of Queensland saw the light in 1909.

Queensland is usually number one when it comes to the areas of veterinary medicine, business administration and life sciences in Australia, and their mining engineering programs are also listed as the first in the world.
