Humboldt University of Berlin

History

The Humboldt University of Berlin was first established on 1809, as part of the educational endeavors spearheaded by Willhelm von Humboldt during the years of the Prussian Reform.  However his liberal ideas caused controversy at the start, resulting in his resignation not long after. However his efforts did bring results eventually, as the university became famous for it’s work ethics and became a prestigious institution with a reputation for fully committing to studies above all else.

This intellectual nature resulted in the university becoming the house of some of the most influential thinkers in recent history, like Hegel, Schopenhauer, Marx and Einstein.

In the present day the institution has grown to become what many see as the most important university in the area of natural sciences, and the incredible feats of it’s alumni make it one of the most famous institutions in the country.
