Monash University

History

Founded in 1958, with the clear intent to provide the state of Victoria with a second university, Monash University was initially granted a large expanse of land with the hopes that one day the institute would accommodate over 12,00 students.

Their dream came true, and then some, with over 50,000 enrolled students per year, and more applications than any other institution in Victoria, the present day Monash University has grown beyond what any of it’s founding fathers could have expected, shifting from it’s early focus on science and technology to a more general offer that has led the institution to become one of the eight most important research universities in Australia.

Admission requirements

As a university in Victoria applications to Monash University are handled through VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre), application period opens in August and closes near the end of September granting a relatively small window to apply.

Additionally each course lists the expected requirement and qualifications a prospective student must meet to enroll, usually in the form of an ATAR Score, while the formula might seem daunting at first, ATAR is ultimately just an alternate form of calculating average scores, and as such can be easily obtained through an online tool or calculator.

Student Life

There is no shortage of services aimed at students when it comes to Monash University, counseling and financial assistance are just the first of many steps the institution takes to support their students, sport facilities are ready for everybody regardless of their physical level, and a wide selection of student clubs make sure any student feels at home at Monash.

Part-time work

Fees

While Tuition Fees at Monash University vary from course to course an estimated average can be reached from it’s main courses of study, commonwealth supported students will pay on average $11,000 AUD per year, while a full fee, involving 48 credits will usually amount closer to $32,000 .

Monash University is currently ranked as the 79th best college level institution in the world, making it the overall sixth best university in it’s home country of Australia.
