History

Originally established in the year 1888, the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile was founded by the Archbishop of Santiago in an effort to grant the city a proper form of education in law and technology, originally this resulted in a very reduced course offering, however the passing of time saw it receiving full academic autonomy and with it came a growth process that continues to this day, resulting in a far more varied academic offering.
