History

Originally founded in 1908, the University of Alberta opened its doors to students the very same year, not without some heated arguments before it’s establishment on where the institution should be located to properly represent the region,  past those initial hiccups the main focus of Alberta on it’s early years was to establish a good teaching base, and as such the recruitment of teaching staff became a priority of the institution in the coming years.

The passing of time lead the university to expand it’s horizons, with new programs and colleges opening under it, and the eventual oil boom of the 50s only helped increase this movement, as of the present day the institution is a landmark of the region, and it’s impact on it amounts to 5% on the province’s earnings.
