History
Originally founded in 1893, Cardiff University, or as it was originally known, University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire, was established as the result of parliament urging to consider the poor state of higher education in Wales, and the resulting push to fix the problem.
The process brought to light that many Wales students couldn’t afford to travel to an university in England, and this couple with the efforts of the Cardiff Corporation resulted in the institution being built on Cardiff, the institution had open enrollment of women and did not require any sort of religious test, making it one of the most forward thinking of it’s time.
Economic difficulties during the 80s resulted in it’s merger with UWIST, only to regain independence n the 90s, and then re-merge with another institution in 2004, nonetheless Cardiff University remains strong to this day, and has gained fame due to the large number of humanities courses it has offered through the years.

Through it’s 3 main faculties, or colleges as Cardiff University refers to them, the institution currently offers well over 30 undergraduate programs granting a bachelor degree to any student who completes them, as well as 7 courses offering master degrees and taking one year longer to complete.

Admission requirements
In general admission at Cardiff University is mainly based on a student’s high-school results in their last 2 years of study, however each program can set it’s own requirements according to the university’s policies, as a result they vary a lot, and in some cases can get notoriously specific, so it’s always recommended to research in depth a course before applying.
Student Life
Cardiff University goes out of it’s way in an attempt to balance student’s academic demands with their wellbeing, as such it counts with a wide selection of facilities and sports and arts clubs through which students can express themselves, remain fit and pursue their passions separately from the classroom.
Part-time work
Cardiff University counts with an on-campus employment facility in the form of Unistaff Jobshop, a free service to any student which helps them find employment options and earn extra cash through jobs offered both by the university and external companies.
Fees
For EU and UK students at Cardiff University the Tuition Fee for one year of undergraduate studies is set to £9,000, for the students of the Channel Islands prices do vary more however, for most courses the prices remain the same, but for clinical studies the current tuition fee is £24,675.
International Students can as well expect to pay around £20,000 per year of tuition at the institution, however in their case prices are determined by individual course so the institution reccomendds they check the full details of a course for exact pricing information.

Summary
Cardiff University offers quality education and more importantly for locals, it does so directly on Wales, giving them an option that doesn’t require relocation, or at least not to a degree other UK-based institutions would, however it can also prove a somewhat expensive institution, so students should fully research their scholarship and funding options before committing.
