History

The University of Calgary was established in 1966, however it’s origins do date further back, as it was originally just a branch of the University of Alberta, which obtained independence from it as a result of the Universities Act of Canada, and has operated on it’s own since.

In the present day the institutions is one of Canada’s most important research universities, being a member of U15, the main group for Canadian research universities.
