Covenant University

History

Covenant University was established in the year 2002, one of many projects and institutions pioneered by Living Faith Church Worldwide, a network of churches headed by Bishop David Oyedepo, which since it’s inception in 1983 has become a powerful source of change for the country of South Africa.

As such the university operates as one of multiple private Christian universities formed by Living Faith, and under the mission of being a platform to raise a new generation of leaders for the country, has become a pioneer in the country with a multitude of it’s programs being rated as the best in the country.

Admission requirements

Admission into Covenant University requires prospective students to present the UTME Test, UTME which stands for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is a test presented through computers that lasts roughly 2 hours and helps grade students interested in undergraduate programs across the nation.

Student Life

The religious origins of Covenant does grant the university a slightly different profile to the university than some of it’s peers, students are required to attend church at certain occasions, and their entertainment programs tend to avoid parties or carnivals, however there is still an entertainment program present, like cultural shows and a large selection of sports and students clubs.

Part-time work

Students in Covenant’s Work Study program are allowed to work a maximum of 10 hours per week, at a rate of 250 NGN per hour, since all of the work is granted directly by the university’s departments students will be granted an schedule that won’t affect their studies.

Fees

Students at Covenant University can expect to pay 472,000 NGN to cover their Tuition, Examination and Registration Fee at the Unviersity.

However while this is the base price not all students will stop at just it, those who require accommodation will require to pay 185,000, and utilities costs and lab fees can amount to roughly another 100,000.

In general it’s recommended that all interested students check the approved fees at the university’s website to properly assess what their planned expenses would amount to.

The Covenant University is currently ranked as 1704th best college level institution in the world, making it the overall third best university in it’s home country of Nigeria.

Summary

At Covenant University quality comes at a cost, not only monetarily, as it is widely considered to be one of the most expensive institutions in Nigeria, but it also comes with more restrictions and a more demanding environment than other universities in the region, this does however prove the commitment Covenant has to it’s education programs, and for those who can afford both the economical cost and the higher discipline expectations, will find themselves with one of the premier institutions in the country.
